Weekly Geeks: Catch-Up Week
This week, Dewey suggests that we catch up on our bookish activity like blogging, challenges, reviews and whatever else might need attention. So here's my plan for the week:
1. Catch up on my reading. I need to read A Spectacle Of Corruption before next week's BOOKLEAVES meeting, and the three New Zealand novels Willie loaned me are staring reproachfully from the New Zealand section of my "Foreign Authors" bookshelf. Also, my Canadian reading has fallen off a bit.
2. Carve out a special section on my bookshelf for books I want to read during the Readathon on October 18th. One of these books will be When You Are Engulfed In Flames by David Sedaris, which I couldn't resist any longer when I visited Kyobo bookstore on Friday. My book-twin, Susan suggested that I read something fun that would make me laugh out loud a lot while Mr. Bybee is peacefully slumbering. Sedaris will do nicely.
3. Catch up on my reviews. I've just finished The Omnivore's Dilemma, and I want to review it here, but I loved it so much, I'm afraid I'll just burble and chitter. Deep, deep breaths.
4. Cast a cool and appraising eye at all my challenges. I've been working at them all year, but haven't completed one yet, and actually contemplated joining another, the one where participants read a book that was made into a movie. My Tough & Cool Inner Bookworm is having a hissy.
I'll report back in a few days to assess and, if necessary, confess.

OMG, the picture of the ketchup bottle reminded me of a funny story...
I moved back to the States when I was 6, and I started second grade at a brand-new school, then switched to a different school about a month in. My new teacher had 'catch-up hour' on Fridays, but the first week, I thought she was talking about 'ketchup hour,' and I was so confused! hehe
I also remember learning to type in kindergarten/1st grade and thinking the space bar had to do w/ outerspace.
Ah, the foibles of youth! ;)
P.S.: I'm so looking forward to the read-a-thon! And I think I've talked my mom into doing it...I'm still working on getting her to guest blog, though. :D

That's great about your mom. I'm curious about her reading tastes.
We have similar dilemmas this week with our reading - shoulds, musts, want tos. That's what I wrote about for Sunday Salon.

I have a lot of catching up where my reading is concerned. I think your catch-up goals are very doable!
I wish I could take part in the read-a-thon, but it's not a good weekend for me. Maybe next round.

I have alot of review writing to catch-up on and I have been considering taking part in the Read-A-Thon also. It sounds like a fun time :)
I'm still chuckling at Eva's comments... I think I need to catch up to all this Read-A-Thon excitement. Sounds easier than looking at the challenges I've signed up for and forgot.

You have some great catch-up ideas -- things that would never have occurred to me.
Oh, I do hope you'll review TOD. I can see that it would be a difficult book to review (which I never did). I think it just changed my life utterly. What else can you say about that, except 'READ IT!'
