Random, Some Might Even Say Haphazard...

I've been tagged by Eva at A Striped Armchair to reveal 8 little-known facts about myself.

The Guidelines:

Players start off with 8 random facts about themselves.

They post the rules in their blog entry.

They tag 8 people and post their names and location.

They leave the tagged a comment telling them that they've been tagged.

1. As a staunch bookworm and shameless bibliomaniac, it's only fitting and proper that I gave birth to my only child in 1984.

2. I have music earworms every day, but sometimes, I also have poetry earworms! I enjoy my Dorothy Parker earworms the most, and my Arthur Hugh Clough earworms the least.

3. Blushing with shame, I must admit that I still have trouble reciting my cell phone number in Korean, even after 2-and-a-half years.

4. I visit the black market from time to time, wondering what "fell off the truck" at the nearby military bases. In response to the inevitable query, if I say I'm American, they jack up the prices. Usually, I just let CanadaBoy talk while I stand there and smile and try to look like I might have a maple leaf flag tattooed somewhere on my person.

5. Speaking of tattoos, I do have one: A small, blue heart on my left shoulder blade. I wish I'd had it put somewhere that I could enjoy it more easily, but on the other hand, I haven't tired of it or regretted it yet.

6. Ginnie And The New Girl, by Catherine Woolley, was the first novel I ever read. This was in 3rd grade, and I've been on the go, literature-wise, ever since.

7. For about a year, I went to midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but my most-watched movie is actually All That Jazz (71 times). The first time, MEM and I saw it either for free or very cheaply on "Movie Night" at one of the dormitories at the southwest Oklahoma university we attended.

8. My favorite snack is popcorn and pickled jalapeno peppers together in one big bowl. It's terrific --all my favorite tastes and textures together -- crunchy, salty and spicy. Sometimes, it's a dinnertime choice. Maybe tonight is one of those times.

I'm not sure that I can scrape up 8 people to tag, but I do want to tag joemmama over at Life Happens While Books Are Waiting.

Love that you went to see Rocky Horror so many times. Mine is Jaws, and I'm sure to see it again since I own the video.

I'm going to have to try the popcorn and jalepeno thing. Sounds exactly like something I would love but that my family wouldn't touch.

I've seen 'Rocky Horror' at midnight movie so many times that I can't watch it at home without a newspaper, a squirt gun and toast.

Oooh, the popcorn sounds good. I loved reading your answers.

Alrighty then....I am no longer a MEME virgin....Thanks Kiddo.

Lisa Jean,
I'm fond of Jaws as well...hey both Jaws and All That Jazz star Roy Scheider!

Kookiejar,
"It's just a jump to the left..."

Bookfool,
It's delicious, believe me. What really gives it that extra wow factor is that a bit of the juice from the jar of pickled jalepeno peppers drips onto the popcorn. Yum!

Joemmama,
No, thank YOU! Re: "Kiddo": You made my day! Looking forward to reading your eight facts.

The one time I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show was at college in the student union. It was pretty much just a showing of the movie--other than a couple of audience members shouting at the screen, I didn't get the full impact that seeing it at the theater at midnight with all the costumes and such would have given me. :-(

Hey, I recognize that book cover! Ginny and the New Girl, is this the book where the the protagonist trying to make the perfect loaf of white bread?

Sadly, I first experienced "Rocky Horror" at a drive-in. WHAT were they thinking?? Has anyone seen it on stage?

I shouldn't admit it, but I've never seen Rocky . Or the Sound of Music for that matter. There are a lot of films I haven't seen and I have no good explanation for it. Loveed the list.

Literary Feline,
Yep, it's a movie that definitely needs audience participation.

spf,
I think Ginnie made bread. It's only been 37 years since I read it, though! I know for sure that she made rhubarb pie.

melanie,
I saw it at a drive-in once. Tried sitting on the hood of my car and participating, but the other moviegoers suggested that I shut the f_____ up and get my ass back in the f_____ing car. Blush.

Acquisitionist,
Forgive my ignorance -- is Halloween done is Australia? If so, that'll be your best bet of catching a midnight showing with particpation. Bring toast, a water gun, newspapers and an old deck of cards. Didn't Jim Sharman direct this? Isn't he Australian?

Hi--I love your blog and wanted to introduce myself...I took the book meme and answered with books I have read (and loved, hated etc) on my blog--thanks, and I added a link to your blog on mine. I really like your book reviews here...of course I am always looking for recomendations of books to read ;-)

Bybee, you have such a great sense of humor and I so enjoyed reading your meme!

You really proved your devotion to books and literature with the 1984 birth of your child. It would be hard to top that! :)

wrt the tattoo on yout shoulder, you make a good point, it's hard to enjoy it fully when you can't see it. I'm such a wuss when it comes to pain of any kind, I don't know if I could ever have a tattoo done, did it hurt a lot? Do you have plans for another one?

Amazing you remember the first book you've ever read, I am sure mine was an Enid Blyton, but I can't remember which one!

Yeah, us Canadians get cut a lot of slack on the international front! I used to always make it clear on my travels that I'm a Canuck, not a Yank. :) Now since I've made the US my home, I figure I should take on its identity when I travel, and just try to be the opposite of the stereotype.

Popcorn and jalapenos?? Ummmm ... I'll take your word for it on that one!

Popcorn and jalapenos scares me. But I love salty fries dipped in strawberry ice cream, so I shouldn't say too much!

You actually know how many times you've watched your most watched movie! That's impressive!

Aurora,
I love your blog! You are so creative.

Lotus,
The tattoo didn't really hurt. Interestingly, it felt like sunburn in that one little spot for a couple of days.

Lesley,
Most of the Koreans in this town assume I'm Canadian. Sometimes, I don't correct them. Lately, I had a wicked O Canada! earworm.

booktraveller,
The more I read about the fries and strawberry ice cream, the more I want it. Any particular kind of fries?

Nymeth,
That fact is already outdated. Last weekend, the English-language movie on the weekly late show was All That Jazz, bringing me up to 72 viewings...It's showtime, folks!
