Readathon Hour 16: Putting Away The Pom-Poms & Pulling Out The Paperbacks
Congratulations to joemmama for winning my challenge! Those lines were from Endless Love by Scott Spencer. As joemmama pointed out -- really good novel, really bad movie.
I have fully discharged my cheerleading duties. I visited most of the readers' blogs. If I didn't leave a comment, it's because I couldn't leave one for some unreasonable computerish reason. Some blogs I couldn't get into at all. Difficulties were rare, though, and I enjoyed seeing what you've read and I REALLY enjoyed seeing what you've eaten. When you're an expat, food is like your porn. With that in mind, I must tell Dewey with the greatest respect that if her husband sets foot anywhere in Asia, I'm claiming him. The snack plate he made was a thing of joy and beauty forever.
I'm back to being a reader now. My original plan was to crack open the Sedaris book, but I suddenly remembered that biography of Princess Diana, and now it's driving me crazy and I must read it first. Sigh. I've got to go fetch it from Dorm Sweet Dorm. Double sigh.

Book Giveaway: The Winner!
Congratulations to Tanabata at In Spring It Is The Dawn for winning my prize copy of Korea Bug! I wish everyone could have won. That might be the usual and expected thing to say, but I really mean it -- this is a terrific book. I'm thinking of buying yet another copy and hosting another giveaway soon. Meanwhile -- happy reading, Tanabata!

After The Readathon
Wow, that was great. I hope we can do it again next year. Or in 6 months. How often do people do actual marathons...as in running?
Coming into the home stretch, I took an idea from another blog and decided to start a Stephen King novel, Lisey's Story. King's open, easy style and his pacing were just the thing I needed to switch gears. I'm 238 pages into the novel and enjoying it very much. Meeting Stephen King would be a dream, except I'd probably babble uncontrollably and possibly wet myself. I think "Steve" would be pleased that I'm a Don Robertson fan. Otherwise, I might end up as one of his grotesques in a future novel.
CanadaBoy drew names for my prize. Nyssaneala is the winner of A Peep Into Korea. Nyssaneala, please email me with your address. MEM, I'm sorry you lost, but the next time I see this book, I'll pick up a copy for you.
Gigantic kudos to Dewey for envisioning and creating this very fun event. I've had an inkling before, but the Readathon made me fully realize just how much of a community we really are. Now that it's all over, I feel a little postpartum. What about you?
