After The Readathon
Wow, that was great. I hope we can do it again next year. Or in 6 months. How often do people do actual marathons...as in running?
Coming into the home stretch, I took an idea from another blog and decided to start a Stephen King novel, Lisey's Story. King's open, easy style and his pacing were just the thing I needed to switch gears. I'm 238 pages into the novel and enjoying it very much. Meeting Stephen King would be a dream, except I'd probably babble uncontrollably and possibly wet myself. I think "Steve" would be pleased that I'm a Don Robertson fan. Otherwise, I might end up as one of his grotesques in a future novel.
CanadaBoy drew names for my prize. Nyssaneala is the winner of A Peep Into Korea. Nyssaneala, please email me with your address. MEM, I'm sorry you lost, but the next time I see this book, I'll pick up a copy for you.
Gigantic kudos to Dewey for envisioning and creating this very fun event. I've had an inkling before, but the Readathon made me fully realize just how much of a community we really are. Now that it's all over, I feel a little postpartum. What about you?

Although I wasn't actually participating in the marathon, it was fun to follow and see how everyone progressed. :-)
At least you made it through the marathon without succumbing to heatstroke. Did the quality of your reading decline as your sleep debt mounted?
With a 50-50 chance to win that fine book on Korea, I lost fair and square. Plus you can't go wrong losing to someone named Nyssaneala. (Do you know if that's a given name or adopted nickname inspired from a literary reference that escapes the narrow confines of my knucklehead?)
As I recall your workdays on Monday are long in the tooth, Susan. Good luck staying awake!
Congrats on partipating in the read-a-thon! This was so much fun. :) I'm feeling a little post-readathon let down as well. And I loved the community aspect!
Exciting! That's a fun morning treat to wake up and see I won a prize! It's too bad we couldn't both win.
Memitchell - Nyssaneala is a nickname. Nyssa is the name of a Greek water nymph (and also the name of a tree genus), and Neala is a variant spelling on a name I really like: Nala.
Bybee, could I have your email address to send you my mailing address? Or, you can email me at alisiab at mail2world dot com
Nyssaneala,
Since it's early in the morning in Korea and Susan is probably still sleeping off her reading binge, I'll point out that her e-mail address is available on her blog: suz19612003(at)yahoo(dot)com.
Thanks for the explanation of your beautiful nickname.
It looked like so much fun, maybe I'll be there next year. It is a nice community, isn't it?
Some people read Stephen King as an easy read, others not so much. I have Lisey's Story waiting for me too - I'm looking forward to it.
If you liked Lisey's story, please read the Heart Shaped Box by his son Joe King.
Looks like I didn't page down far enough to see the email, thanks for pointing it out!
I'm so glad you had fun! I had a blast, too, but I'm not sure if that was a postpartum feeling or just sleep deprivation. ;)
