Book Machine, I Hardly Knew Ye

Sadly, my instincts were right.  The book vending machine at my subway stop has disappeared.

In its place is a machine that dispenses candy that gives you instant energy and also dispenses several kinds of breath mints and gum. I'm never going to use it, even if I'm so tired I'm having to drag myself onto the train or I'm dying of dyspepsia, or my breath is like sewage, or if my ears are stopped up, or all of those things at once.

Goodbye, little Book Machine.  Even though the language barrier prevented me from buying any of your books, it always made my day to see you there on the platform.  I'll never forget you.

Aw is right. And sad, too. A book-dispensing machine is way more healthier than candy, any day.
