Flashback Friday! Daughter of Darkness - J.R. Lowell

This 1972 novel is part of the bad seed/creepy kids genre.  The title character, Willamina "Willie" Connolly, a precocious young girl whose unresolved Electra complex drives most of her actions, fully lives up to her sobriquet.

I read this book in middle school and loved it.  All these years later, reading about wicked children seems to remain a guilty pleasure.  I found a used copy at Amazon and can't wait to reread it.

Just the cover picture was a flashback! Even though I don't recall reading this book in particular, it reminded me of so many that I did read in the 70's. I was hypnotized by the "bad seed" type of book - starting with Carrie, I think.

Thanks for the memories.

This makes me chuckle since I'm sure I would have read this one in middle school, although I don't have an exact recollection of it.

I can't wait for your review, it sounds awesome! I'm kind of sad that I've never come across this book yet!

Funny. I only remember reading Flowers in the Attic and no other bad-seed lit. Enjoy.
I do like the name Willamena. Willamina or however it is spelled...
