Really Reely Reading

I'm really looking forward to C.B.'s challenge. Haven't yet decided how many books and movies I'm going to read and view, but this is a tentative starting list of books and movies that I haven't experienced yet but want to:

1. Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince -My son has the book and probably the movie. Even if he doesn't, it's not hard to find.
2. No Country For Old Men -both book and movie are easily findable here.
3. Gone Baby Gone -I hope I can find this Dennis Lehane novel. My son has a DVD of the movie.
4. Slumdog Millionaire - I have the book and the movie should be easy to locate.
5. The Mosquito Coast - This novel has been on my TBR for a couple of years, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to find the movie easily.

Next stop: The popcorn aisle at E-Mart.

Welcome to my challenge. I'm glad to have you on board.

I admit, I was not brave enough to make it all the way through No Country for Old Men myself. But I have got a copy of Revolutionary Road for the challenge.

I read 20 Questions a few years ago and really enjoyed it! I finally saw Slumdog Millionaire last week (based on 20 Questions), and it seems to match up to the "feel" of the book (but since I didn't remember many of the book's details, I can't say if it was a good adaptation or not). I hope you enjoy both the book and the movie!

Revolutionary Road kicks butt..I'm glad you got it for your challenge.

Heather,
Thanks...I've wanted to see/read this for quite a while.

This looks like such a fun challenge, doesn't it? I haven't picked out any of my books/movies yet. From all the positive comments I've been hearing about Pat Conroy's Prince of Tides lately, I'm thinking that might be one of them. I'm also thinking of another Dennis Lehane book - Shutter Island - since I want to see the movie but haven't read the book yet.

Change of subject. Do you have a copy of Nick Hornby's How to Be Good, Ms. Bybee?

Lesley,
Prince of Tides is a great choice. I've read the book, but haven't seen the movie.

Bookfool,
No, I don't have How To Be Good. I've read it, though.

Bybee,

How to Be Good is the one Nick Hornby book I couldn't stand (so far -- actually, I didn't get far at all). What did you think of it? Do you want my copy?

Bookfool,
It was OK... I really like his nonfiction better. Didn't mind book swapping HTBG a couple of months ago. Thanks for offer.

I SWEAR I commented on this post! Where did my comment go?!

Well first, your pun made me giggle. And then, your list has such a great variety! I can't wait for all of your reviews! :)

To be honest, I didn't know Slumdog Millionaire was based on a book. Now that I've seen it, I doubt I'll read it. I rarely go that way. However, I usually go the opposite way (read first then watch)-- often, but always, to great disappointment.

Okay! I have a friend who said How to Be Good was his favorite and, much as I disliked it, I thought it deserved a happy new home. I'll find it a place to live. About a Boy and High Fidelity are my personal faves, but I adore his NF, too. :)

Hi! Happy belated birthday!
I just wanted to say that I enjoy your blog alot, especially since I am also teaching English in Asia. Maybe I'll make Korea my next stop.
I also noticed that you have a long list of blogs you read. Would you mind suggesting a blog that's written by someone in their early 20's? I just wanted to read a book blog written by a person around my age. Thanks!

Anon,
My favorite 20somethings are Eva from "A Striped Armchair" and Raych from "Books I Done Read". Enjoy!
