The Yearling is my permanent road block to ever reading this entire list. I still cry over Where The Red Fern Grows! No way am I touching The Yearing. Nice job on your project though!!

Almost half way there in both "reading" and "owning." When you finish, that will really be something to brag about in a special posting.

What's the deal in the years in which no award was given? Did the committee actually decide that NO book was good enough?

Lezlie,
Get those aloe tissues and crack open The Yearling. It's wonderful.

Ambearo and Care,
Thank you!

Sam,
I don't know why no award some years. Maybe deadlock? They seem to have gotten over that...steady awarding since the late 70s. Maybe there were a lot of opposing personalities on the committee, especially during the 60s.

I meant to say the 70s....

I loved some of the most recent ones. Wao, Middlesex, The Road. All excellent!

You can get "His Family," "The Magnificent Ambersons," and "The Age of Innocence" in electronic format online for free if they are hard to track down. I am starting at the "historic" end of the list and I've really enjoyed those three.

Good luck!

booklineandsinker,
Happy to help!

Holly,
I was really impressed with Oscar Wao.

Jessica,
My madness has taken a turn...I want to own a hard copy of all of them.

"My madness has taken a turn" LOL there is nothing like owning books, is there? and owning all the Pulitzer Prizes is a worthy challenge, I think! *More applause*
I'm impressed with all you've read, too! Much much more impressive than my total in this category....er...I'm not even sure what it is. I know I own a copy of The Optimist's Daughter, though! :-D

That's an amazing stats! Perhaps you can make a comment about which of the Pulitzer books you'd highly recommend (sorry if you already have and I miss it). I'd love to read more of Pulitzer winners, just the list is too overwhelming and I don't know where to start from (especially for older winners).
