The Newest Member Of The Gang
I wasn't even in the ballpark this year! Last year, I predicted one of the finalists (Tree Of Smoke by Denis Johnson). Actually, I wondered briefly if Louise Erdrich would win for The Plague Of Doves -- it was one of the finalists -- but then put it out of my mind because I've never really warmed up to her writing. All Souls by Christine Schutt was the other finalist, so it was definitely Girls' Night Out. Sadly, Joyce Carol Oates wasn't even a bridesmaid this year. Sigh.
.
I'm looking forward to reading Olive Kitteridge and welcoming it to my Pulitzer shelf (not necessarily in that order).
Isn't the cover gorgeous?

I loved this book and I'm very glad it won.
Strout gave a reading here in town a week or so back and I just couldn't get my act together to get across town to see her.
Oh well. She probably didn't want to waste her time signing an ARC anyway.
I've got a strong taste for dystopia as well. I gave you a little bloggy award...
I had the chance to meet the author last year and picked up a copy of the book at that time, but I haven't yet read it. Makes me wish I had. I'm really happy for the author.
Hi!
I've been reading you blog for a while but have never posted before... I saw that you are reading Go Down, Moses! by Faulkner - I am currently reading that too.
Just wondering what you are thinking of it so far, I am finding it to be a rather slooooow read which is disappointing because i adored The Sound and the Fury.
Love your blog! -emily
I have read all of Strout's books and adored Olive Kitteridge. It will be a great addition to your shelf!
boo on the JCO no-show to the big dance! next year we should put together a superbowl style grid...and everyone can buy a box for $5. hahah.
I discovered your blog during the read-a-thon and there's an award waiting for you at my place

SFP,
I wasn't blown away by Amy and Isabelle, but I think I'll like this one, based on your say-so. Also Biblidoltry (sp) had good things to say about it.
Ruby Canary,
Thank you for my award! Be seeing you soon! Yay!
Literary Feline,
Well, now you can start reading. Did she sign your book?
eMily,
I've got to be honest -- Go Down, Moses is kicking my ass a bit. Plus, I'm easily distracted from it. Bad combo.
Leslie,
I'm looking forward to adding it to the shelf of honor.
booklineandsinker,
I just can't figure out why JCO can't get any love from those Pulitzer people.
Teddyree,
I don't deserve it, but thank you...I'll be over to visit as soon as I finish this sentence.
I've never been much into the whole Pulitzer thing (and, like you, have never warmed up to Louise Erdrich's writing) but this is such a lovely cover. I may have to look this one up. Thanks for the heads up. :)
It is a beautiful cover.
I am reading Olive Kitteridge right now and am about half way through it. I am really liking it so far, so will be anxious to hear what you think of it!
I haven't read the winning book, so I cannot comment on that, but I would have probably thought twice about reading a Pulitzer winning book in the future if the Erdrich book won. I loved one of her books, but my entire book club abhorred this one.
