Tenth Month, Ten Books
Thanks to the Readathon, my book count worked out beautifully. Here's what I read in October:
JPod - Douglas Coupland. I reviewed this in a earlier blog entry.
The Whale Rider - Witi Ihimaera.
Going Solo - Roald Dahl
Stumbling On Happiness - Daniel Gilbert
How Koreans Talk: A Collection of Expressions - Choe Sang-Hun & Christopher Torchia
Books: A Memoir - Larry McMurtry. I wrote a review of this book recently.
Princess Diana - Joanne Mattern
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao - Junot Diaz
When You Are Engulfed In Flames - David Sedaris
Matrimony - Joshua Henkin
It was a good reading month. Matrimony brought me up to 86 books for 2008. Also, for the first month in a while, I read more nonfiction than fiction. I want to review the 8 books I haven't, but it's coming along slowly. I'm not going to be worth a damn until my resume is finished.

Congrats on all the books you've read this year...hope you do a book review on the brief life...
Congrats and good luck with that resume. I thought for sure I would have my highest month ever but somehow, I have not been able to pick up my book the last 2 days of Oct and now it's 2 days into Nov and I'm still not done. huh.
Happy November, anyway! looking forward to your reviews and seeing how many you read this month. will it be 11?
Aww, I loved JPod too, great fun. I then went on to read Microserfs and was sooo disappointed!
Did you like "Stumbling on Happiness?" I read it and liked it, but for the life of me -- I can't remember much of it. It's like the book just melted away. So I can't figure out if it was really good or not. Because can a book be good if it doesn't stay with you? Thoughts?
I can't wait to read the David Sedaris book. I think I will bring it on my December holidays.
Congrats on a nice month - looks like you're a cinch for your annual goal now. :-)
