The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread by Don Robertson

Now the countdown truly begins. A month from today, The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread by Don Robertson will be released. As the time draws closer, I know I'm going to be more and more anxious. What if people don't like it? Then I think: How could they not like it? Then I try to think of ways that people could carp at it, and I start bristling in advance.

Even as a bookworm, it feels strange to be so emotionally attached to a book. Morris Bird III himself might be a little amazed, but philosophically take it all in stride. His pal Teddy would probably give me a reality check in his own inimitable fashion: Eebyb, eruoy stun.

Okay Suzie, you have to let me know what this book is about? and the author? Completely in the dark here (and it is 1:30 am our time!), but tell me more.....and why you so want people to like it.....Happy Easter, by the way!! did any chocolate jump into your house all the way over there?

Susan,
It's 1943, and Morris Bird III is a nine year old boy growing up in Cleveland. A boy he was friends with moved to the other side of Cleveland, and Morris would like to see him again, and he works it out that this is something he must do on his own, like a hero with a quest. He plans out the trip, but things don't go exactly according to plan. To complicate matters, Morris' quest takes place on the same day as a fateful event in Cleveland's history...

Oh forgot to add: my mom sent some Russell Stover Easter chocolates earlier in the month. I'm parcelling them out to myself bit by bit.

Prepare yourself Miss Bybee.

I love "Oil!" as much as you love this book and I've been crushed time and time again by people telling me how much they hate it. Urgh. It's a hard pill to swallow.

But you have better taste than I do, so you probably won't go through that.

Kookiejar,
I had the same thought re: you & me & Sliced Bread and Oil. If anyone says anything bad, I'll just get in touch with my inner Al Swearingen! JK. I think.

Another book for my latest wish list!!!! You've made me so curious and intrigued....I should have guessed it would sound interesting. I'll look for it and let you know when I find it. And it sounds really fun.
Russell Stover- we sell that chocolate here too. Very thoughtful of your Mom to send it over, and hope it lasts! It wouldn't last very long at our house! No chocolate does!
