Behold, the newest incarnation of the Bybeeary. Since I'm in a studio apartment, this is what I see each morning when I open my eyes. It's still very much a work in progress. I'm trying to get the fiction in alphabetical order. The nonfiction is always a challenge. I might go with Dewey Decimal order.
The 1st bookshelf (left):
Shelves 1-3: Pulitzer fiction winners
Shelf 3 (right): Flashman books
Shelf 4 (left): Little House series
Shelf 4 (right): Noir collection
Bottom shelf: Baseball books
The middle bookshelf:
Shelves 1-2: Fiction
Shelf 3: Graphic novel collection
Shelves 4-5: Fiction
The 3rd bookshelf (right):
Shelf 1: Books about food, books about musicians, misc. nonfiction
Shelf 2 (left): Books about South and North Korea
Shelf 2 (right): Assorted nonfiction
Shelves 3 and 4: Assorted nonfiction
I'm pleased to have gotten the books packed, moved and unpacked. I'm also pleased that I was able to get rid of some of the books and get the collection under 500 again. It's overwhelming when the books spiral out of control, but I think I'd be uneasy if the collection got too small. After all, books furnish a room. If I didn't have books, I'd actually have to learn something about interior decorating!

Very nice, indeed. Are the bookshelves yours or do they come with the apartment? What I really envy is that you still have room for more books on the shelves...I never have enough and have just about run out of room for any new bookcases.
ReplyDeleteAnd...a Cardinals cap on the shelf...how cool is that? I can't wait for the season to get cranked up for real next month. Right now I'm watching a lot of college baseball, mostly Rice and the University of Texas. My favorite time of the year is finally here again!
It looks great! I love being able to have all of my books in one place.
ReplyDeleteI don't know....looks like lots of empty shelf space left to me....
ReplyDeleteI've done the same with the books I've read and intend to keep. There's only so much shelf space I'll devote to books these days. If it gets too full, then someone will have to go.
Seems like a very nice view indeed! ;)
ReplyDeleteSam,
ReplyDeleteThe shelves are mine. My dad preferred college and minor league baseball. He thought MLB was too perfect, rather mechanical.
Melissa,
Thanks!
CB
I hope I don't fill up the empty space, but my shelves, like nature, hate a vacuum!
Kathleen,
It makes me smile. It would probably make some shudder.
Three book shelves in a studio apartment! I am so proud of you, booktwin. And it's the best view in the world! other than windows, inside a room, is a bookshelf, with books. I'd give that vacuum 6 months before it was filled.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your move, Bybee, and I hope you are happy there, and start to feel settled soon.
Wow, such organization!
ReplyDeleteYAY! Congrats om the move and unpack and the lovely shelving.
ReplyDeleteHi, sorry for the off topic question, but I found your blog searching for this book: http://bybeebooks.blogspot.com/2009/08/what-was-that-book.html
ReplyDeleteand I was wondering if you ever remembered the title. I read it when I was a child, and now I'm looking for it for my own child. I'm having a hell of a time! I would have emailed you, but I couldn't find any contact information. Thanks in advance for any help!
Person,
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm sorry. I've never found out the title. I'm glad I'm not the only one who read it, though!
Lovely! I'm glad to see Elvis's face still peering from the bookshelf. (Guralnick, yes?)
